Inquiry Line:An inquiry into how people's lack of basic needs effect there daily lives.
Question 1. FORM:What is Poverty?
Question 2. CAUSATION:Why does poverty exist?
Question 3. CONNECTION:How is poverty connected to other global problems?
Question 4. RESPONSIBILITY: What can we do to help people in poverty(How can/will we make a difference)?
Question 5. PERSPECTIVE/REFLECTION: What might happen if we do not do anything about poverty?
Question 1.
There are diferent levels of poverty. There are those who are in relative poverty who have barely entering into the insane world of poverty. They might be able to escape the monster of poverty, though it is unlikely. And there are those who have been living in the horror of poverty for years, and will probably be destined to stay there for the rest of there lives!! But they can still manage to survive. And then, there is absolute poverty. Absolute poverty is a living nightmare, ruled by fear, hunger and sickness. They have to live in eternal hunger. Hunger is always part of every single waking moment. The hunger eats away at you, until you are just a husk of a shell, with one thought: HUNGER! MAD, RAVING HUNGER!!!!! They have to live with it, 24-7, every year. ALL YEAR!!! The crazy, insane universe of HUNGER!! They are the ones who have to use the same clothes every single day, for they only have one set. They have to endure freezing, stiffening nights, and scorching, blistering days, with no means of shelter. We need to to start helping these people. This will soon be our life if we do not act.

Poverty is not having enough money to live off of. It is more then that. Poverty is the severe lack of basic needs. Living in slums can cause deathly illness, because of the tight enclosed spaces. The probem of poverty is making an impact on the world. Many orginizations, food banks, and many others are working to stop it together.

Question 2:
Poverty exists because there is wealth. When there is money there is power. A lot of people want to have power and a lot of want to be richer than the others. As soon as there is a north there is an automatic South. As soon as there is an up there is a down. As soon as there is a right there is a wrong. When we donate things to the poor, the leaders and the rich get to see the donations coming into the country. Most likely, if the leader is corrupt, he will take the free gifts for the poor, and turn them into his own expensive merchandise, making the well thought gifts into a money raiser for the leader, for his own personal gain. Poverty exists because some people of the world think they are superior to the homeless. The truth is, everyone is equal no one is better or worse then anybody else. They should be treated like humans, not animals. WE NEED TO STAND UP FOR THEIR OWN RIGHTS TO LIVE, JUST AS WELL AS EVERYBODY ELSE!!!!! -Written by Gavin. Edited by Rohan.
Question 3: here are a few links that relate to the topic.
Poverty effects many, many global issues. Listen. here is how they do.
Poverty effects kidnapping: The children in poverty live in a constantly unsafe environment. If they venture outside their slum, or small, crudely made house, the might be kidnapped as kidnappers target small, weak children who venture too far away from their house. The more children in poverty there are, the more chance there is that the children will be kidnapped, furthering the problem.
Poverty effects Deforestation: Every year, thousand of people are evicted because of poorness, and are forced to go out of the city. they then have to build a new home, wasting millions of trees therefore also furthering the problem of climate change. If we can cut down on the rate of poverty, we will be able to slow down deforestation, and through that, climate change, as well.
Poverty effects overfishing, because more and more people need food, and most of the fish they get rots because of disease.
Question 4:
Translation into own words: There are many ways we can make a difference. You can educate your friends and family about what you know about the problem of hunger. You can volunteer to help people in hunger. Find ways you can help poverty at: http://www.kidscanmakeadifference.org/what-kids-can-do .

Toys especialy help the homeless kids, it inspires creativity that will help them forever. Give Christmas gifts to homeless children. Your hobbies are helpful, if you volunteer to teach your hobbies, { baking, sewing, scrapbooking, art, writing, etc...} you can teach your skills to the homeless who can't afford the materials to do their own. Question 5: In this question everyone will write what their personal point of view is.
Gavin:I know MY answer. Here is my personal view of a world full of poverty. If we don't take action, then the world will be corrupt. We all don't have an unlimited amount of oil, clean water, food, clothes, even paper and glass! the entire fate of the looming future is resting on the ones who can take action. A sickening amount of the worlds population are in poverty, and many more are slipping into it each day! We have to share the things we have towards the people who don't. The only way to global and environmental issues is to share around the earths reasorces. The world will slip into chaos, people will be stealing from each other, former laws will be in smithereens. We have to take action to stop this calamity. Take action to rid the world of poverty! Start!
Rohan:My point of view is- Poverty depends on our actions. If we do not do anything about poverty it will slowly start to become really bad. In places like Africa, it will be a major major problem as it is already a major problem there. People in poverty will start to steal from the rich and everyone will be angry. The poor will be in danger of being arrested or even killed. A really huge amount of people are already in poverty so imagine how many people will be there in the future!!!!! There are people dying every three seconds. In the future people, will be dying every second! The global issues will get worse and the world will be in total chaos. But there is a solution. We need to take action now to stop poverty. Scientists say that if we continue the way we are going, poverty will reduce to 11.6%,. Africa is the only place that needs more hre help than the others because it is said that poverty reducing in many places but it is rising in Africa. MAKE POVERTY HISTORY!!!!!!
Nitsan: I think that the world will be so not good. People will die every second and they houses will stay like it is ( light are on, air con is on...) and because of that animal die and the world will be not good. [ Global Warming ]
Maya:There will be more and more people in poverty because family's will stay in poverty for generations. More people will die if we will not help them. It is not quick to stop poverty. if you educate one man that will take a long time until he will get enough money for all his family and we need to help much more people.
Bec: I think that if no one does anything about poverty, the world will fall into complete chaos. Things will happen similar to: people dying from hunger about every 1 second, people not being able to go to school because too many people would need to, and people not being able to leave their homes because there would be too many rebels around. So basically, we have to do something about poverty.

Living in poverty can make children afraid of their future. This will result in lack of jobs and health as an adult. They will start to be offensive to other people and the society. You need to educate the homeless and those less fortunate than ourselves to stop this problem.
